Walter Rochs Goldschmidt (b.1913) was a professor in UCLA's department of Anthropology (1946-69), founder and member of the board of directors (1957-60), African Studies Association, president of the Southwestern Anthropological Society (1950-51), president of the American Ethnological Society (1969-70), and editor of the (1956-59); publications include (1940), (1951), (1959), and (1966).
